Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.
A partner in the firm's Houston office, Warren Huang has handled appeals in the federal courts of appeals and Texas courts of appeals. He handles every stage of an appeal, including the preparation of written briefs and motions, presentation of oral argument and representation of clients during appellate mediations. He has handled appeals on a pro bono basis in a number of criminal matters, including a death penalty case, as well as matters for the American Bar Association.
In addition to handling traditional appeals, Warren works closely with trial counsel by preparing and arguing dispositive motions and other pre-trial motions, trial briefs, jury charges, post-trial motionsand legal memoranda.
When an appeal is anticipated, Warren assists trial counsel by preparing strategies for preserving error and positioning cases for appeal. He also has assisted trial counsel by handling appeals from interlocutory orders, including the filing of interlocutory appeals and petitions for writ of mandamus.
Warren represents clients in medical malpractice, intellectual property and general commercial litigation.
His recent matters include:
- A building contractor in a real estate dispute in which a judgment of $1.1 million was entered against the client; on appeal, the Court of Appeals reversed trial court's judgment and rendered a take-nothing judgment on the plaintiffs' claims against the client
- An individual in a real estate dispute in which a judgment of $350,000 was entered against the client; on appeal, the Court of Appeals reversed trial court's judgment and rendered a take-nothing judgment on the plaintiffs' claims against the client
- A company in a commercial dispute in which the en banc Court of Appeals affirmed the entry of summary judgment in the client's favor and, in a case of first impression, held that a party who claims it was fraudulently induced into executing a contract cannot, as a matter of law, justifiably rely on misrepresentations that conflict with the contract's express and unambiguous terms
