AREAS OF CONCENTRATION
EXPERIENCE

Sarah Holland joined Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.'s Austin office in 2006 as an associate. Sarah focuses her practice on appellate matters and patent litigation. Sarah has prepared briefs for appeals and jury charges in federal and state court. She is also involved with strategy and briefing, including motions for summary judgment, motions to dismiss, and pre- and post-trial motions, in a wide range of trial litigation matters. She has experience with constitutional litigation, health care and pharmaceutical matters, class actions, and tort and contract cases. In patent cases, she has handled motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, discovery motions, and e-discovery.

Prior to joining Fulbright, Sarah completed a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Fortunato P. Benavides, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (2005 - 2006). She previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Stephen C. Robinson, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (2004 - 2005).

Before law school, Sarah worked for Texas State Senator Florence Shapiro during the 77th Texas Legislature.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
  • Primary responsibility in preparing appellate briefing in an employment discrimination case; in that appeal, the Fifth Circuit upheld summary judgment granted to the client
  • Primary responsibility in preparing appellate briefing in a medical malpractice case against a hospital brought under Chapter 74 of the Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code; in that appeal, the Third Court of Appeals affirmed the trial court's dismissal of plaintiffs' health care liability claim
  • Assisted in preparing a motion to dismiss based on jurisdictional grounds in a patent case, which resulted in dismissal
  • Assisted in preparing a motion to dismiss based on jurisdictional grounds in a patent case, which resulted in a favorable settlement
  • Served on team of attorneys in a complex pharmaceutical liability case that resulted in a favorable summary judgment
  • Advised various companies on potential liability stemming from services or features offered on websites

While in law school, Sarah was a board member of the Yale Law Journal and Chair of the Temporary Restraining Order Family Violence Project and Clinic. 

While in college, Sarah received departmental honors and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. 

Sarah was admitted to practice law in Texas in 2006.  She is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.

Sarah is an avid reader and enjoys cycling, traveling, and photography.
