Richard N. Carrell is a Retired Senior Partner, now Of Counsel, in the Houston office of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. which he joined in 1970. He has served as a member of the firm's Executive and Policy Committees.
Mr. Carrell is a member of the Houston and American Bar Associations and the State Bar of Texas. He has served as Chair of the Antitrust and Trade Regulation Section for the State Bar of Texas and as Vice Chairman of the Criminal Practice and Procedures Committee of the Antitrust Section of the American Bar Association. Mr. Carrell handles complex commercial litigation including antitrust, securities, contracts and oil and gas related matters. He has extensive experience in class action litigation. He served as Lead Counsel for Settling Defendants in MDL 1206, In re Lease Oil Antitrust Litigation, as lead counsel for The Home Insurance Company in the Voluntary Market Premium Litigation, and most recently as co-counsel for Citgo in Spectrum Stores, Inc., et al. v. Citgo Petroleum Corporation, et al.
Mr. Carrell has been selected by his peers as one of the best lawyers in America for civil litigation as published in the The Best Lawyers in America. He is also listed in the Guide to the World's Leading Litigation Lawyers, Euromoney Publications PLC. He is ranked among the top attorneys in Antitrust in Texas according to Chambers & Partners, USA. Mr. Carrell has been named as a "Texas Super Lawyer" in antitrust law.
Mr. Carrell received a B.A. from Washington & Lee University in 1965 and a J.D. from the University of Virginia in 1970. He was admitted in 1970 to practice law in Texas. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army between 1965 and 1967.
Mr. Carrell currently serves as an Emeritus Trustee of Baylor College of Medicine and as a Trustee of the Kelsey Foundation for Research.
