EXPERIENCE

O. Rey Rodriguez is a partner in Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.'s Appellate Practice Group and Litigation Department. His practice focuses on state and federal appellate and trial litigation. He is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Appellate Law.

Rey has handled appeals and presented arguments in both federal and state appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of Texas. He has been involved with the successful defense of toxic tort, consumer and product liability class actions, mass fraud and conspiracy claims in the health care industry, high exposure libel actions, employment matters and a broad range of commercial actions, including intellectual property and reinsurance disputes. 

After graduating as the valedictorian of his law school, Rey served as a judicial clerk to the Supreme Court of Texas.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

During law school, Rey was a Judge Sarah T. Hughes Fellow. He was also awarded the West Publishing Company Scholarly Achievement Award twice, received the State Bar of Texas Labor & Employment Law Award and the B. Thomas McElroy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Texas Civil Procedure. He served on the Board of Editors for the SMU Law Review Association and was a member of the Order of the Coif. Rey also holds the distinction of having earned the highest score on the July 1994 Texas Bar Examination.

During college, Rey was named a Presidential Scholar, a Harry S. Truman Fellow, a National Hispanic Scholar, and received the Delta Sigma Pi Outstanding Business Student Award. He was also named one of UT El Paso's Men of Mines - the University's highest award.

Rey was admitted to practice law in Texas in 1994, in the U.S. District Courts, Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas in 1995, and is also admitted to practice in the Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.

INTERESTS

When not practicing law, Rey spends time traveling, visiting historic cities and archaeological sites.
