- Complex Commercial Litigation
Matthew A. Dekovich joined the Houston office of Fulbright & Jaworski in September 2005. As an associate, his practice focuses on a range of business litigation matters, including commercial disputes involving breach of contract and business torts. Matt has represented clients in these matters in both state and federal courts, and in private arbitrations.
Prior to joining Fulbright & Jaworski, Matt was a law clerk for Judge Sim Lake of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
- Assisted in arbitration in which client sought specific performance of certain provisions of a stock purchase agreement. Arbitration resulted in favorable award to client.
- Assisted with defense of federal-court lawsuit in which the plaintiff sought to avoid arbitration of the defendants' claims. The court granted the defendants' motion to compel arbitration and later confirmed the arbitrators' award.
- Helped obtain summary judgment in favor of a defendant in a state-court lawsuit in which the plaintiff alleged that the defendant was liable for various business torts.
- Obtained a pre-suit settlement for client in a dispute involving damages to the client's oil-and-gas lease property.
- Assisted in handling of appellee's case before the U.S. Court of Appeals.
- Conducted numerous jury trials as a Prosecutor for the City of Houston as part of Fulbright & Jaworski's Attorney Loan Program.

Matt was admitted to practice in Texas in 2004, and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas, and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Matt's interests outside the law include running, golf, and Michigan Wolverines football.
