AREAS OF CONCENTRATION
EXPERIENCE

Lana Varney joined Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.'s Austin location in 1990 in the firm's Litigation Department. Her practice involves complex litigation in both federal and state courts throughout the United States, emphasizing pharmaceuticals and medical device litigation, including defending multi-district federal litigation, class actions, product liability claims, mass tort claims and personal injury matters. Relying upon her years of experience, Lana also assists clients with Litigation Readiness programs which evaluate procedures and best practices to employ to minimize litigation exposure.  When first joining the firm, Lana represented management clients in civil rights, labor, wrongful terminations and other employment-related litigation.

Lana frequently lectures on Electronic Discovery and is actively involved in the firm’s Electronic Discovery and Information Management Group.  She routinely leads the collection and production of large amounts of electronically stored information in major litigations. She assists clients with the development of best practices for document retention.

Lana currently serves as national counsel for products liability cases involving osteoporosis medications. She has served in this capacity or as one of the key trial counsel on several nationwide litigations including: over-the-counter cough/cold medicines containing phenylpropanolamine, human plasma-derived factor concentrate medicines for hemophiliacs and penile implants.
