EXPERIENCE

Lisa Shub joined Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.'s San Antonio location in 1993. She practices in the litigation section with an emphasis on pharmaceutical, mass tort, toxic tort and environmental matters. She also has significant experience handling insurance defense, insurance bad faith, products liability, fiduciary duty and contractual disputes. Lisa has extensive experience in the identification, coordination, development and presentation of expert witnesses in national litigation. She also has first chair trial and arbitration experience.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

Lisa has had significant involvement in the following types of cases:

Toxic Exposure

  • Defending product manufacturers against claims brought by over 2,000 construction workers and 8,000 family members alleging toxic exposure during construction of the South Texas Nuclear Power Plant and Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant resulting in defense summary judgments against all plaintiffs.
  • Defending chemical distributors against claims brought by over 400 former employees of an o-ring manufacturing facility alleging exposure to "toxic soup".
  • Defending premises owners/operators/employers against claims of chemical exposure on work sites.

Insurance

  • Defending a major surplus lines insurance carrier against allegations of bad faith insurance practices, resulting is a successful arbitration award.
  • Defending an insurance carrier against allegations of coverage in a directors and officers' liability policy.
  • Defending against coverage claims in "claims made" and "occurrence" insurance policies.

Pharmaceutical

  • Participation in the identification, retention and presentation of expert witnesses in cases brought by thousands of plaintiffs against a pharmaceutical manufacturer of over-the-counter medicines.
  • Participation in the case development of the first case to go to trial nationally involving pharmaceutical product.

Contract Disputes

  • Defending premises owners/operators against claims of negligence over theft of resident belongings, resulting in defense verdict at trial.
  • Defending against commercial claims between parties to art auction resulting in favorable outcome for client.
  • Representing companies in claims brought by competing business owners against allegations of tortious interference with a contract.
  • Representing home realty company in litigation brought by subsequent home purchasers.

Fiduciary Duty

  • Defending banking institutions against allegations of mismanagement of investment accounts.
  • Defending against allegations of breach of fiduciary duty in management of Trust assets.

Prior to attending law school, Lisa was a special education teacher for high school age students with learning disabilities and emotional disturbances.

While in law school, Lisa was an articles editor of the St. Mary's Law Journal. She was admitted to practice law in Texas in 1993. She is also licensed to practice in the United States Federal District Court for the Western and Southern Districts.
