For more than 90 years Fulbright has had a reputation for excellence as a top tier litigation firm. Today, Fulbright's lawyers continue to refer to the examples taught us by Leon Jaworski and others as The Fulbright Difference.

The Right Solution For The Client

Fulbright develops a strategy targeting the right solution for each client, given the specific circumstances of each case. Time to resolution is always key, because nowhere is the cliché more accurate than in litigation: "time is money."

When a major disaster struck one of the largest energy companies in the world, it called in Fulbright's catastrophic litigation team. An explosion at the company's Texas City, Texas refinery had resulted in 15 deaths, hundreds of injuries and major property damage.

Our client was faced with huge legal and public relations challenges.  The prospect of protracted litigation in a plaintiff-friendly venue, and the attendant unfavorable publicity loomed large. A strategy was adopted early to resolve the death and serious injury cases while striking a delicate balance between wanting to compensate fairly without protracted litigation.

The strategy worked.

Rather than litigation dragging on for years with the attendant costs, the Fulbright team helped resolve 3,500+ claims in less than four years with no trials going to verdict.

In representing one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, Fulbright lawyers were deeply involved in the Vioxx litigation, from fact development to trial, and through appellate briefing and arguments.

The firm's involvement extended from the first Vioxx trial, in which Fulbright lawyers played a major role, to the settlement program that essentially resolved this major exposure for the company. The firm's appellate team won a reversal of a major adverse jury verdict, and Fulbright lawyers played a guiding role in crafting the unique settlement program that ended the major portion of the client's exposure.

The Budget Process

At Fulbright, we believe our performance is best measured by the achievement of our clients' goals and our efficiency in reaching the result. By working closely with our clients, Fulbright strives to stay within the budget parameters, and if an adjustment is needed, we discuss it openly with the client.

Fulbright's investment in state-of-the-art budgeting software helps keep clients informed of costs and procedures and facilitates our allocation of resources to stay within budget guidelines.

Advanced Technology

Today, litigation is driven by technology, leading to massive quantities of electronically stored information (ESI), rapidly evolving legal requirements and growing demands on clients' stretched legal budgets.

Fulbright's litigators and practice support personnel have been at the forefront in developing cost-efficient solutions to challenges in these areas.

As one of the first law firms to license Recommind Axcelerate eDiscovery for document review, Fulbright has reduced the average time and expense of a first pass review, while increasing quality.

A Leader in BTI's Litigation Outlook 2011

Fulbright was one of just seven firms recognized as the nation's most Prominently Recommended Law Firms for Litigation by corporate counsel.

Survey participants said they base their recommendations primarily on firms that provide "superior client service" and possess "valued counselors." In addition, Fulbright was one of the top law firms that in-house counsel would rather not see as lead opposing counsel.

BTI's Litigation Outlook survey profiled:

  • more than 240 general counsel
  • nearly one-fifth from Fortune 100 companies
  • average revenues of $14.4 billion among participating companies

Fulbright's Annual Litigation Trends Survey

Since its inception in 2004, Fulbright's Annual Litigation Trends Survey of senior corporate counsel in the United States and the United Kingdom has become a much anticipated event each year throughout the profession and the media.

Fulbright commissions an independent research firm to collect data on in-house counsels' experience and views regarding dispute resolution and related issues. The survey tracks core data trends and timely topics suggested by readers.
