Lori-Ann Bellan joined Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.'s Health Care Group in the Washington, D.C., location in 1998. She advises clients, including hospitals, physician groups, medical equipment manufacturers, and durable medical equipment suppliers on Medicare and Medicaid coverage and reimbursement issues, as well as corporate compliance issues, the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, and the federal Stark Law.
Lori also represents clients in administrative proceedings regarding coverage and reimbursement issues under Medicare Part B, advise clients in regards to criminal and civil investigations involving health care fraud, as well as prepare corporate compliance programs on behalf of clients. Lori's practice has expanded to include records management and electronic discovery as a member of Fulbright's Electronic Discovery and Information Management Group.
Lori's most recent experience includes the following:
- First and second chair in multiple Administrative Law Judge hearings
- Management of discovery including complex document production
- Assist with witness preparation
- Creation of master classification plans
- Representation of teaching hospitals in antitrust litigation regarding stipends paid to medical residents
- Representation of an international device manufacturer in a federal grand jury investigation into the company's financial relationships with surgeons
- Creation and implementation of compliance programs for medical device manufacturers
