Andrew Bartlett
- Standard Chartered Bank For the last eight years, Mr. Bartlett has worked in investment banking in the City of London, initially with Standard Bank of South Africa and, for the last five years, with Standard Chartered Bank, initially as Global Head Oil and Gas Project Finance and latterly as Global Head of Oil & Gas Corporate Advisory, which included overseeing the old Harrison Lovegrove business. The vast majority of his deals have been in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. He has advised a wide range of clients including NOC, majors in the independent sector, mainly in the E&P sector but also in LNG, mid-and downstream.
After graduating, Mr. Bartlett worked for 18 years in the UK, Holland, Somalia New Zealand and Syria with Shell International’s upstream business, initially as a Reservoir Engineer and later as a Development Manager. In 1998 he was made a Vice President and set up Shell Capital, a new company established to equity and mezzanine finance small E&P players. Mr. Bartlett gained a degree in Mathematics and a Master’s in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College, London. |

Guy Beringer
- ECGD Guy Beringer QC is non-executive chairman of ECGD. Guy is 54 and was born in Singapore. He attended Campbell College, Belfast and then read history at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge. He joined London law firm Allen & Overy in 1978, qualifying as a solicitor in 1980. He became a partner at A&O in 1985 and was Senior Partner from 2000 to 2008. During his time as Senior Partner, the firm doubled in size and developed a global presence. In 2006 he advised Lord Carter of Coles on his review of legal aid and in 2008 he was a member of Lord Justice Gage’s Sentencing Commission Working Group. In October 2006, he was appointed Queen's Counsel (honoris causa) for his contributions to pro bono and legal services. Guy is also:
Guy was a keen rugby player and, like his father, won two rugby blues at Cambridge. He then played for London Irish for 10 years, appearing in the team’s first national cup final in 1980, and captaining the club for the 1985 season. He also represented Ulster for two seasons. In 2008 he joined the board of London Irish Holdings. Guy is married with three daughters and two grandsons and lives in Weybridge. |

Lance Crist
- IFC Mr. Crist leads IFC’s investment activities for exploration & production, pipelines, LNG, oilfield services and related sectors. His team oversees a $1.8 billion portfolio in over 30 countries. He has managed privatization advisory mandates, project and corporate finance, and private equity transactions in the areas of general manufacturing and telecommunications prior to his current role. He earned a B.A. from Cornell University, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. |

John Drysdale
- Transparency International Educated at Oxford University he qualified as Scottish chartered accountant. He had a career as a merchant banker, working for thirty years with Robert Fleming. He became a director of the bank with special interests in the Far East and Middle East. Having retired in 1996, he joined the board of Transparency International (UK) and became chairman in 2007. He was chairman of the Open University Foundation, retiring in 2006. He has doctorates in musicology from Oxford University and Southampton University and an honorary doctorate from the Open University. He is a director of Garsington Opera. |

Luay Jawad
- Iraq Energy Institute Executive Director and Founder of Iraq Energy Institute (Advisor to Iraq's Oil & Gas Parliamentary Committee). Mr Al-Khatteeb has over 17 years' extensive commercial experience in petroleum E&P Business Development coupled with Government Process-Management and Automation, having served in executive capacities as Director, Senior Consultant, and Commercial Advisor working for various blue chip regional and international companies such as Crescent Petroleum & Dana Gas Joint Venture, Shell E&P International, British Gas, PriceWaterHouseCoopers (Energy Dep), Anderson Consulting and ING Bank. Luay played a key role in delivering the Shell business strategy for Iraq 2004-2008. Mr. Al Khatteeb is also Editor in Chief of various publications including Energy & Development Series. Academically, Luay holds a BSc Honors degree in Business Information Technology (Kingston, UK), PhD Researcher at Salford University on 'Iraq Petroleum Industry & Sector Sustainability', and fully trained in E&P Business Development at various commercial academies. Luay is also fully trained in Project Management at Anderson Consulting Business School.

Carole Nakhle
- Former Parliamentary Advisor in the House of Lords Dr. Carole Nakhle is an energy economist based in London and specialising in world oil and gas market developments, energy policy and security, and international petroleum fiscal regimes. She has served as Research Fellow in Energy for three years at the University of Surrey – UK, and was formerly with Statoil. She also acted as Special Parliamentary Adviser on Energy Issues and Middle Eastern Affairs in the House of Lords, UK, for more than four years. She is Associate Lecturer in energy at the University of Surrey and Visiting Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. She also acts as a consultant for major oil companies and is Director of Women in Energy. She has published numerous papers and articles on petroleum fiscal regimes, energy security, the distribution of oil wealth, and the role of women in the oil industry. She is the author of two books. The first, “Out of the Energy Labyrinth”, published by I.B.Tauris, was out in May 2007 and is co-authored with Lord Howell, the former UK Energy Secretary. The book is available in English, Japanese, Arabic and Turkish. Her second book, entitled “Petroleum Taxation: Sharing the Wealth”, published in April 08, takes the reader step by step through the entire petroleum taxation story. She has also written a report, in both English and Arabic, on the contractual framework for oil and gas investment in Iraq, published in November 2008. |

Brian O’Cathain
- PetroCeltic Brian is a geologist and petroleum engineer with 25 years’ experience in senior technical and commercial roles in upstream oil and gas exploration and production companies, Brian previously held the positions of Managing Director of Tullow Oil’s international business and chief executive of Afren plc. In senior management positions with Enterprise Oil and Shell International, he was principally involved with acquisitions, divestments and corporate strategy. He has experience in working in West Africa, The North Sea, The Gulf of Mexico, South Asia, and Offshore Ireland. He was formerly chief executive of AIM listed Afren plc. |
