American Gateways selected Fulbright as one of eight finalists for the 2012 Access to Justice Award, which honors the best pro bono attorney and pro bono law firm. Fulbright associate Chris Weimer was among the nominees for Best Pro Bono Attorney.
Founded in 1987, American Gateways is among the most effective and efficient non-profit providers of immigration legal services in the nation.
Sharing American Gateways' commitment to providing equal access to justice for all people, Fulbright has donated its time and talent to represent immigrants from around the world. Through American Gateway's programs, over one hundred Central Texas attorneys have provided free legal services to immigrants seeking asylum or U-visas under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
The winners of the American Gateways' Access to Justice Awards will be announced at the June 5th Gala at the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin, Texas.
