Fulbright achieved its best showing to date in leading legal directory Legal 500 2009 (UK Edition), receiving praise in five practice areas within the Dispute Resolution, Corporate and Commercial and Insurance sections. Fulbright was recognized for its work in Banking Litigation, Financial Services, International Arbitration, Insurance and Reinsurance Litigation and Professional Negligence.

Within Banking Litigation, Legal 500 acknowledged that Fulbright "has assembled a formidable team in recent years" and cites partners Lista Cannon, Chris Warren-Smith and Melanie Ryan as leading practitioners. The publication mentioned Fulbright's involvement in defending Landsbanki Securities UK against a group action by more than 300 claimants, and noted that Cannon and Warren-Smith "have a wealth of experience, particularly in transatlantic disputes." In the field of contentious Financial Services work, the publication recognized that Fulbright is "committed to delivering on time" and lists Cannon and Ryan as leading practitioners. Warren-Smith was also acknowledged as a leader, citing his work on an internal investigation into improper trading.

David Howell, Jonathan Sutcliffe and Ryan were each acknowledged for their work in International Arbitration, with the publication noting that Fulbright has "a very strong standing in the market." Legal 500 called Fulbright’s international arbitration team a "top-notch practice that is as comfortable in major energy and infrastructure disputes as it is in technical financial services related matters."

Legal 500 highlighted Warren-Smith for his work in Insurance and Reinsurance Litigation; the publication called him both "commercial and pragmatic." The publication also listed Fulbright as among the leaders in Professional Negligence work.

Antitrust and Competition partner Rod Lambert is also recognized a leading practitioner in EU and Competition work in the Scotland section of the directory.
