EXPERIENCE

Ed Patterson's practice consists of general litigation with an emphasis on maritime, industrial and energy-related matters. He has been a partner in the Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. Houston office since 1997.

Ed often defends ship owners in personal injury and death cases, represents oil and gas service and production companies in all types of matters pertaining to the offshore oil and gas industry, including collision, loss of well and property damage cases and defends Employers and Carriers in Defense Base Act and Longshore and Harbor Worker's Compensation Act claims.

In non-maritime-related matters, Ed's practice includes the defense of a variety of personal injury, death, products liability, property damage, and premises liability cases. He also regularly advises foreign and domestic insurance companies in regard to insurance coverage issues and handles various commercial matters in litigation and arbitration.


REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
Ed's recent significant representation includes:

  • Responsibility for the day-to-day management of a case involving an explosion and fire at a large chemical manufacturing facility in Houston as co-counsel.
  • Lead counsel for a tanker owner in a case involving collision with a dock facility in the Houston ship channel.
  • Lead counsel for the manufacturer of police stun grenades in product liability matters.
  • Lead counsel for a refinery owner in multiple actions arising from its foreign operations.
  • Lead counsel for a tire manufacturer in product liability litigation.
