EXPERIENCE

Dean Fleming has worked as a trial attorney in Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.'s San Antonio location since 1985.  He is certified in civil trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He handles a broad range of business, commercial  and class action litigation and has extensive experience in representation of insurance carriers in disputes involving personal and commercial lines of insurance.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

His representative experience includes:

  • As lead counsel, successfully defended a bank in $80 million breach of fiduciary duty claim (case won on appeal).
  • As lead counsel, successfully defended a bank in a $25 million arbitration claim for aiding and abetting a Ponzi scheme.
  • As lead counsel, successfully defended two national banks in class action cases involving check-cashing fees charged to non-customers.
  • As lead counsel, successfully defended a U.S. National Governing Body for an Olympic sport in arbitration regarding termination of one of its professional members for misconduct.
  • As lead counsel, successfully defended an insurer in a class action filed by a policyholder asserting that late fees charged for premium payments constituted usurious interest
  • Lead counsel in defense of a non-profit independent research institution in a multi-million dollar claim of misappropriation of trade secrets.
  • Represented as co-counsel the owner in a multi-million dollar construction contract dispute involving multiple parties.
  • Represented as co-counsel a major securities broker in a multi-million dollar arbitration dispute over a commission
  • Obtained a favorable outcome as co-counsel in favor of a U.S. manufacturer of equipment against a multi-million dollar claim for commissions by a Russian sales agent
