Cecilia Ibarra joined the Houston location of the International Law Firm of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. in May 2001. Mrs. Ibarra is a licensed attorney in Mexico where she practiced for 9 years prior to joining Fulbright, serving as in-house counsel with Copamex, S.A. de C.V., senior associate with Santamarina y Steta, S.C., and in the legal department of Banca Confia, S.A. (now Citibank Mexico).
Mrs. Ibarra was also a professor of law at her alma mater, the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM).
As Foreign Legal Consultant, Mrs. Ibarra's practice includes representing U.S. and other international clients in matters relating to Mexico, and Latin America in general, including M&As, securitizations, infrastructure, government contracts, energy, real estate, dispute resolution, compliance, government investigations and cross-border matters in general. She also works closely with lawyers from throughout Fulbright's practice areas representing the interests of clients from Mexico and Latin America on varied matters. Due to her background and day to day contacts in the region, Mrs. Ibarra is active in developing and maintaining an extensive network of contacts with local counsel throughout Latin America.
With over 17 years of combined practical experience in Mexico and the U.S. as both in-house and outside counsel, Mrs. Ibarra brings a unique set of skills, experience and perspective to Fulbright's International Practice.
