Andy Demetriou's practice focuses on the representation of a wide variety of public and privately held domestic businesses. His experience includes merger, acquisition and divestiture activity, corporate governance (for both for profit and non-profit organizations), corporate compliance programs, joint ventures and regulatory counseling and compliance. He has also advised foreign enterprises in their investment and financing activities in the United States for nearly 30 years. His transactional experience encompasses commercial finance, project finance and leasing, representing both lenders and borrowers in private financing of businesses, including venture capital financing. He recently served on an American Bar Association Working Group on Corporate Social Responsibility and the International Rule of Law, and was a contributing author on conflict of interest policies for the ABA Business Law Section's Pocket Outside Counsel Series.
Andy is active in the American Bar Association, having served as Chair of the Health Law Section in 2007-08 and a member of the Section Officers Conference. He is a past Vice-Chair of the American Health Lawyers Association Sarbanes-Oxley Task Force, responsible for monitoring governance developments of interest to healthcare lawyers and institutions and served as Co-Editor of the AHLA Corporate Governance Quarterly in 2007-08. He has also held leadership positions in Sections of the State Bar of California and Los Angeles County Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a Life Fellow the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation.
Andy has served on a number of community Boards, including the Boards of Directors and Governors of the UCLA Foundation, the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation and the Board of Trustees of the Saint Sophia Foundation. He is a member of the Board of Visitors of the UCLA Economics Department. He serves as Special Counsel to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Commission in Washington, D.C.
